Of course it does.  As long as folks accept lame excuses for their constant failings and don’t walk away from Apple with their wallets Apple has no reason to care.

I totally agree with SFGATE on this one..and the reasons given for opposition are totally accurate and standing within Constitutional principles.

The New York Times Goes Nuts, Says The Government Should Regulate Google’s Search Algorithm (GOOG).

It’s a long time issue in non internet applications but it was thought the latency of internet communications would protect users from this issue.  While I’m not sure this is either a large issue now or even if it’s going to be one it is one I will be tracking to see if it becomes a large scale problem.

Security flaw can leave popular websites vulnerable – The Inquirer.

Windows has design issues…I have talked about it many many times.  However it IS possible to have a malware free system.  It’s really not that hard.  You do need to change your behavior on how you operate your windows systems.

1.  Have a security audit done if you’ve never had one done.

2.  Don’t use IE.  Unless you are technically savy just don’t.  It’s the number one attack vector(via Activex).

3.  Run Firefox or Google Chrome.

4.  Don’t goto porn, warez, gambling..etc etc type sites.  If it’s a red-light disctrict on land it’s the same in cyber-land.  If you go to these places in cyber-land none of the above or below matter..you’ll be infected either immediately or very quickly.  NO anti-anything will save you either.

5.  Don’t buy into the anti-whatever $$$ trap.  I haven’t run a/v on my systems in nearly a decade.  We’ve had ONE system infection and it was my wife’s fault(by her own admission).  If you are REQUIRED to run anti stuff get the  cheapest you can find.

6.  Never click a link in an e-mail until you check it.  This can be a tricky subject.  Hover your mouse(Don’t click any links) over the links and see if the address presented in the bottom bar matches the text of  the link.  If it doesn’t it’s a fake.  Contact ECC for full details.

7.  Remove admin rights from users.  Self-explanatory.

8.  Remove the ability for users to install ANYTHING.  This can easily be done via group policy. (This and #7 are the 2 things you can do on a network to stop at least 90% of all malware infections)

9.  Disable autorun.  This nukes most infections from usb keys(flash drives, thumb drives..etc etc etc.  Works great in conjunction with #8 and #7)

10.  Ensure all systems are up to date with all security updates.  Not just Windows and Office but every third party program on your systems.  (This includes Acrobat, Flash, Java).

If you are running 32-bit xp you can install service pack3 and continue with support.  If you are running 64-bit XP this operating system is now “dead”.  No more patches of any kind.  All versions of Windows 2000 are also now End Of Life.  You need to move to Windows 7/server 2008 now before your systems become even bigger targets.

Support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 comes to an end.

If you are running xp 64 bit you are stuck at sp2 and your installation expires in less than a week.  Time for a move to 7.

You have less than one week to update Windows XP. Here’s how! – Microsoft SMB Community Blog – By Eric Ligman – Site Home – MSDN Blogs.

Apple for a while built great looking products that worked very well.  Now that they have a rabid fan base their exterior beauty is hiding some nasty shortcomings.  I remember a company that continues to get somewhat humbled by this kind of behavior in the past… Microsoft.  For once I think Apple need to follow Microsoft.

Apple Support Confirms Software Won’t Fix iPhone 4 Antenna – Amazingly it won’t fix AT&T’s network, either – dslreports.com.

Apple is acting like Microsoft did before they got hit with all of their security bugs.  I bet Apple is on it’s way down to.  Unfortunately Apple’s arrogance will make BSD look bad when it’s Apple’s mis configurations that are to blame not the underlying OS.

SemiAccurate :: Apple’s respone to iPhone 4 antenna problems is unacceptable.

You need to log into your iTunes account and change your password.  Once you do that go into the payment details and select none to clear out your CC or checking account information.  There’s more details Here, Here, Here.

iTunes accounts hacking more widespread than initially thought. The facts, and what you should do..

I had forgotten about this story until my wife told me she is now having to replace the caps on optiplexes because of this issue.  I wrote it off then until i saw this post from Dell where they say the charge3s in the lawsuit are settled because all of their affected clients were “fixed”.  Yeah right.  My wife’s employer now has machines dropping about one a week due to this issue.  I have advised her to get her employer’s higher-up including legal involved in this.  Of course if the charges in this article is true then Dell(and most likely others) are in serious trouble.  Here’s a link to a story on background on the whole mess.
